35 miles completed

March 30, 2018

I woke up before everyone in the house and couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided to go for a trail run to Mahana Ridge. I didn’t know much about the trail other than it was 10 miles out and back and a convenient 5 minute drive from our house.

The trail started at a beach and wound up through the jungle and rugged land once used to cultivate coffee and pineapple. Along the way, great views of Mokupe‘a and Honokahua Gulches are visible through breaks in the trees. Honestly, the site from the top felt a little anticlimactic...but between the warm sun and being surrounded by the sounds of the jungle it was a perfect place to pause and indulge in my morning meditation.
